About

Franz Werk, an artist from Leipzig, East Germany, born in the 90s, discovered his passion for art in his youth through an encounter with graffiti culture. Inspired by the dynamics and adrenaline rush of graffiti spraying, he dedicated himself to the art form. Starting with classic letter patterns on facades and trains, he quickly moved on to complex figures and large-scale murals. For more than 15 years he has been creating impressive murals, which have been shown at various urban art festivals in Germany and Central Europe.

In addition to his murals, which are primarily created by the use of spray cans, Werk has delved into painting, specializing in oil paintings on aluminum. His artistic influences are diverse, ranging from Greek mythology and classical painting to modern urban art and personal experience. In his current series, „Violence and Aesthetics“, Werk explores the boundaries between beauty and brutality, a theme deeply rooted in art history. His works leave room for interpretation, encouraging the recognition of beauty within contrasting and often dark themes.
